Watch a Franklin resident try her luck on a popular game show Tuesday

A Franklin resident tried her luck on the classic show “The Price is Right,” and the results will air on Tuesday.

Hannah Wozniak is a longtime fan of the show, and flew out to San Diego for her wedding anniversary. During that trip, she and her husband, Nate, decided to take the two-hour journey to Los Angeles to visit a close friend of Wozniak’s. On the day of Hannah and Nate Wozniak’s wedding anniversary, they secured a spot for the filming of “The Price is Right.”

After waiting with about 300 people for more than three hours to get into the filming room, it didn’t appear at first that Wozniak would be among the nine audience members selected, but eventually, she was called, Wozniak said.

“It honestly happened so fast,” Wozniak said. “I was one of the last people called up and (announcer) George Gray calls your name and says ‘come on down,’ but it was so loud I couldn’t hear it. They held a big white sign with my name on it. It was almost the end of the show and I was freaking out. I was super excited and it was a surreal moment being on a show you’ve watched since you were super little.”

The objective of “The Price is Right” is to come as close as possible to guessing the price of various merchandise without guessing an amount greater than the actual price. Contestants compete against each other, with the best guessers winning prizes. The host of the show has been comedian Drew Carey since 2007, when he took over for long-time host Bob Barker.

Although Wozniak was the only one on stage, both she and her husband wore shirts that read “Hey Drew! 1 year ago today we said ‘I do!’” in the font and colors of “The Price is Right.”

The whole experience of filming, which took place on March 2, was unforgettable, she said.

“People were dancing, yelling, cheering; it makes for a really fun time,” Wozniak said. “Everyone was so nice and even during the commercial breaks when they were not filming or setting up for the next game, Drew and George Gray would be out on stage talking to people. Drew was cracking jokes and making everyone laugh.”

The episode is scheduled to air at 11 a.m. Tuesday on CBS.
