NEW ORLEANS — Ouachita Christian scored 45 first-half points in a 52-6 victory over Southern Lab in Friday's 2014 Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Division IV State Championship Game.
Ouachita Christian took an early 7-0 lead on a 41-yard run by senior quarterback Chance Clowers. That was set up by an interception by Maverick Wilhite.
Later, Ouachita Christian's Cade Spikes forced and recovered a fumble. Josh Pennebaker scored on the next play to make it 13-0.
Clowers had 159 yards passing in the first half and threw three touchdowns, two of them to James Anderson.
The lone score for Southern Lab (8-6) came on a 1-yard run by Darbbeon Profit late in the first quarter.
Ouachita Christian (11-3) claimed its sixth state championship and third since 2011.
