LOS ANGELES — Just in time for the Fourth of July, Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies have seized more than a half-ton of illegal fireworks.

Deputies in East Los Angeles spotted a man selling fireworks to another man from a parked car late Thursday night.

The seller lived nearby. Authorities say in his home, deputies found up to 1,500 pounds of illegal fireworks and 49 of the big explosive devices called M-80s.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of illegally possessing explosives and having dangerous fireworks without a permit.
