DAYTON, Ohio — A western Ohio woman has been sentenced to three years in prison for a wrong-way, drunken driving crash that killed one Missouri resident and seriously injured another.

The Dayton Daily News ( ) reports 20-year-old Rachel Schidecker apologized in court Tuesday and acknowledged that doesn't remove the grief she caused.

Prosecutors say the then-18-year-old woman from Laura drove several miles on the wrong side of Interstate 75 near Dayton, Ohio, before the August 2012 crash. Her blood alcohol level was 10 times the limit for someone that age.

Schidecker said she has struggled with addiction for years.

She was convicted of aggravated vehicular homicide and other charges. Her driver's license is suspended for life.

The crash killed 39-year-old Chereece Rule of Kansas City, Missouri, and injured a man from that city.
