Man pleads guilty to murder, armed robbery in shooting death of Michigan State student

EAST LANSING, Michigan — A 20-year-old man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed robbery in the slaying of a Michigan State University student at his off-campus apartment.

The Lansing State Journal reports that ( ) Marquay McCoy entered the plea Friday in Ingham County Circuit Court. McCoy faces between 32 years and life in prison at his April 8 sentencing.

Dominique Nolff was shot to death in January 2014 at Cedar Street Apartments in East Lansing's Cedar Village area. The 20-year-old Nolff of Middleville was an MSU sophomore. Nolff's 20-year-old roommate was shot and wounded in the attack.

McCoy told Circuit Judge Clinton Canady III that he went to the apartment "to rob the victim, pulled a gun out and got into an altercation and the gun started going off."
