PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — A 19-year-old Pawtucket man has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a Providence teenager in February.

A jury deliberated less than two hours before convicting Ashner Alexis on Monday.

Prosecutors said Alexis killed 17-year-old George Holland Jr. when he fired a shotgun at someone he saw only as a shadow behind a drawn blind. They said Holland, a Central High School football player who was visiting his girlfriend's house, was not the intended target.

Prosecutors said Alexis and several others drove from Woonsocket to Providence to confront the girlfriend's brothers. Prosecutors said the suspects believed the brothers had stolen cash and a cellphone from them.

Anthony Moore, who prosecutors said provided the shotgun, was convicted of murder last month. Three others have pleaded guilty to their roles in the case.
