DENVER — Federal mine inspectors have cited a silver mine near Ouray where two men died in an accident in November with numerous safety violations.
The Denver Post reports (http://dpo.st/1puFBwm ) the Mine Safety and Health Administration put the Revenue Mine on notice Thursday for a pattern of violating health or safety standards. The mine was cited for 92 "significant and substantial" violations between Aug, 1, 2013, and July 31 of this year.
The MSHA has yet to issue citations for violations contributing to the fatal Nov. 17 accident. Two miners were killed by carbon monoxide poisoning the day after a small explosion occurred at the mine. At least 20 others were injured.
The MSHA says an investigation that was launched following the accident is expected to be completed shortly.
