LARAMIE, Wyoming — Fire crews and equipment are being demobilized from a wildfire in southeast Wyoming.

The fire in the Medicine Bow National Forest is directly north of Lake Owen and southwest of Laramie. Firefighters have limited it to less than a square mile of burned area since it began on Monday and mop-up operations are underway.

Some 175 firefighters supported by helicopters battled the fire. The number of firefighters is now down to about 140 and more will be released in coming days.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
