SAN ANTONIO — A South Texas man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for fatally stabbing a graduate student as she jogged in a San Antonio park on New Year's Eve 2013.

A Bexar (BEAR) County jury sentenced Christian Bautista Antonio on Wednesday, one day after finding the 31-year-old San Antonio man guilty of murder.

The victim, 24-year-old Lauren Bump, who attended Harding University in Searcy (SUR'-see), Arkansas, was jogging while visiting her family in San Antonio when she was attacked in O.P. Schnabel Park. Her body was discovered by some people walking on a paved trail.

Bump was scheduled to graduate in 2014 from a physician assistant program. She held an undergraduate degree from McMurry University in Abilene.
