AUBURN, Maine — The trial of a man charged with murder in the in the 2013 slaying of a 20-year-old Lewiston man is wrapping up.
The Sun Journal (http://bit.ly/1AgNexD ) reports that defense attorneys and prosecutors are scheduled to make closing statements Tuesday in the murder trial of 21-year-old William True in Androscoggin County Superior Court.
Testimony concluded Monday without True taking the stand.
He's charged with the April 2013 slaying of Romeo Parent.
Prosecutors say Parent was beaten, stabbed with a screwdriver at the base of his skull and strangled with a garrote fashioned from wire and wooden dowels. Authorities say True was angry that Parent had informed on him in a burglary case.
True's attorney says there's no evidence his client killed Parent.
Another man has previously been convicted of murder.
