EVANSVILLE, Indiana — An organizer says work should start in the spring on moving several war memorials scattered around Evansville's downtown to a single riverfront site.
Jerry Blake of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114 says work continues on planning for the moves and for what to put in place of the monuments being moved.
County officials have given permission to move Civil War, World War I and World War II memorials which now surround the old county courthouse.
Blake tells WFIE-TV (http://bit.ly/1tTsdHx ) that more people will see those monuments once they join the existing Korean War, Vietnam War and Purple Heart memorials at a plaza along the Ohio River.
