FLAGSTAFF, Arizona — A relatively wet spring may delay the start of summer fire restrictions until after Memorial Day.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports (http://bit.ly/1JEU4Sa) Coconino National Forest fire staff officer Don Muise says fire danger dropped to low with last weekend's half inch of precipitation.

He said risk fluctuates, but that it's unlikely Forest Service fire restrictions will be imposed before May 25.

National Weather Service meteorologist Cory Mottice says since Jan. 1, the Flagstaff area has had almost an inch and a half more precipitation than normal. This week's forecast predicts a few days of sunshine before cooler temperatures and showers return.
