SHELBY, North Carolina — Construction crews will close Interstate 85 for a brief time in Gaston County as they build a new weigh station.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation said no traffic will be allowed on I-85 between Exit 10 and Exit 13 starting around 9:30 a.m. Sunday because construction crews will be using explosives.
The DOT says the blast is set for 10 a.m., and crews will work as fast as possible to make sure there is no debris on I-85 and reopen the highway to traffic.
Crews are building a new weigh station off the northbound lanes.
