Police detectives seized over 800 bags of heroin and about 70 grams of the drug in its raw form following a raid executed at a home in Springfield's Liberty Heights section

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts — Police seized more than 800 bags of heroin and about 70 grams of the drug in its raw form during a raid at a Springfield home.

Sgt. John Delaney says police and members of the FBI Gang Task Force arrested four suspects Thursday who they say ran a large-scale heroin and crack cocaine distribution ring in the city's Liberty heights neighborhood.

Delaney says the amount of raw heroin seized was enough to make "thousands and thousands" of bags of the drug.

Four loaded handguns and approximately 138 grams of crack were also recovered from the property.

The suspects were charged with trafficking in heroin and crack cocaine, possession of a firearm and receiving stolen property as well as other related weapons charges.
