New York man drowns in hotel pool in Virginia; death ruled as accident


CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia — Police say a 19-year-old New York man has drowned in a hotel pool in Virginia.

Albemarle County Police spokeswoman Carter Johnson tells The Daily Progress (http://bit.ly/1JOwEhM ) that the drowning was ruled as an accident.

Rescue crews found the man in the pool at a Comfort Inn at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Police say he later died at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

Police say the man was visiting Charlottesville from Brooklyn, New York. His name hasn't been released.
