Memphis officer charged with sexual battery, misconduct, in downtown area incident

MEMPHIS, Tennessee — Prosecutors say a Memphis police officer has been indicted on an aggravated sexual battery charge.

The Shelby County district attorney's office said Friday that 46-year-old Officer Eric Lee also has been charged with official misconduct and official oppression. He is being held on $150,000 bond. Online court records do not show if he has a lawyer who can discuss his case.

Authorities say the incident occurred Nov. 10 in downtown Memphis, where a 38-year-old woman was sitting in her car waiting for her husband to get off work from a nearby restaurant.

Lee has been a police officer since February 2009. He was relieved of duty with pay on Sept. 3.
