PLAINVIEW, New York — A Long Island man has been charged with driving drunk with three of his young children in the car.

Nassau County police say 28-year-old Carlos Sanchez, of Hempstead, was pulled over after officers observed him driving in Plainview without his lights on at 10:35 p.m. Sunday.

Police say he also was driving without a license with his children ages 6, 3 and 1. They say one of the children was not in a child safety seat.

No one was injured.

Sanchez was charged with aggravated driving while Intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child, driving while intoxicated and other charges.

The children were placed with a family member.

It wasn't immediately clear if Sanchez had a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
