Woman shot while driving in Camden, police car also struck by bullets

CAMDEN, New Jersey — Gunfire in Camden has left a woman in critical condition and an unmarked police car riddled with bullets.

Police say the woman was driving on 27th Street around 1:30 a.m. Thursday when she was caught in the crossfire.

She was wounded in the back and crashed into a tree. She's in critical condition at Cooper University Hospital.

Police have taken two suspects into custody.

Meanwhile, a police officer escaped serious injuries when someone opened fire on the officer's unmarked patrol car around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on Kenwood Avenue.

The car was riddled with bullets, but the officer was not hit.

The officer was treated for cuts.

No arrests have been made in that incident.
