ROMEO, Michigan — A jury has found a 27-year-old suburban Detroit man guilty of first-degree murder and child abuse for fatally beating his live-in girlfriend's 2-year-old son.

Tuesday's jury verdict in Macomb County Circuit Court means that Ronald DiMambro Jr. of Washington Township faces a mandatory penalty of life in prison without parole. Judge Jennifer Faunce scheduled his sentencing for July 17 in her Mount Clemens courtroom.

Authorities say that DiMambro was babysitting for Damian Sutton last Aug. 21 when the man attacked the boy, breaking his skull. Damian died six days later.
