ROANOKE, Virginia — Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court Judge Philip Trompeter plans to retire at the end of his term next year.

Trompeter presides in the 23rd Judicial District, which includes Roanoke, Salem and Roanoke County.

The Roanoke Times ( ) reports that the 62-year-old judge recently informed the Virginia Supreme Court that he won't seek reappointment when his term ends on April 15, 2015.

Trompeter was appointed to the court in 1985.
