PELHAM, Alabama — Charges have been dismissed against a former high school principal who was accused of having sex with a student.
An order by Shelby County Circuit Judge Dan Reeves earlier this week says a witness in the case against former Pelham High School principal Catherine Michelle Bell has recanted and is no longer cooperating with prosecutors.
Bell's attorney Rick Lyerly tells AL.com the dismissal of the case was the right outcome and that 34-year-old Bell had been wrongfully accused.
Lyerly says Bell is now trying to rebuild her life. Lyerly says Bell lost her job, sold her home, moved in with her mother and couldn't find work after she was arrested.
