HELENA, Montana — The latest shot of winter dumped up to a foot of snow in parts of Montana this week.
The National Weather Service reports snowfall totals from Sunday through Tuesday include 12 inches near Roundup in Musselshell County, 11 inches at Silver Gate in Park County, around 10 inches in the Hardin area in Big Horn County and about 7 inches in the Billings area.
The Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Department closed the Big Bend fishing access site on the Missouri River south of Great Falls until further notice because people were getting stuck in the snow. Walk-in visitors are still permitted.
Strong winds were expected to cause blowing snow in eastern Montana, including Miles City, Glendive and Glasgow, on Thursday.
