FALMOUTH, Massachusetts — A special meeting has been scheduled in Falmouth on wind turbines.
The town's twin, 397-foot-tall turbines were erected at a wastewater treatment plant in 2009. One was temporarily shut down after the Massachusetts Court of Appeals ruled that it was built without proper zoning approval. The Zoning Board of Appeals voted on Sept. 17 to issue a cease-and-desist order.
Residents have also complained about the turbines' health effects.
The Cape Cod Times reports (http://bit.ly/1MWqs8u ) the Board of Selectmen voted Tuesday to hold a special town meeting Nov. 10 at the Falmouth Public Library.
Chairman Doug Jones says the board plans to submit an article concerning the town's turbine bylaw and another on the potential loss of revenue, should one or both of the turbines be shut down.
