ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, New Jersey — Two business owners who thought they were buying discounted televisions at a northern New Jersey department store were instead scammed out of their money.

Rockaway Township police say the victims were each contacted by an individual who claimed to be their delivery service driver. The man told them his brother worked at the store and could get them the TVs "very cheap" because the store was overstocked.

The victims eventually set up separate meetings at the store with the man they thought was the driver's brother, who was dressed as a store employee. After giving him their cash, the man gave them store receipts and told them to go get their televisions.

But when they spoke with store personnel, they learned the receipts were fraudulent and they had been scammed.
