Maricopa County deputies seize marijuana bales, plants from suburban Phoenix home

PHOENIX — Maricopa County deputies have seized more than 200 pounds of marijuana from a suburban Phoenix home.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that deputies, acting on an anonymous tip earlier this week, discovered 220 pounds of marijuana and nine marijuana plants in a residence near 59th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard.

Sheriff's spokesman Brandon Jones says two people at the home gave consent for detectives to search the property Monday.

According to Jones, they found 10 bundles in plain view.

In all, they seized $110,000 worth of marijuana.

The two people at the home were initially arrested

However, Jones says the two claimed to be visitors and that they had no knowledge about the marijuana.

So, detectives released them from custody.
