Martinsburg man charged with embezzling more than $170,000 from employer

MARTINSBURG, West Virginia — A Martinsburg man faces charges of embezzling more than $170,000 from his employer.

The Journal (http://bit.ly/1V02LQJ ) reports that 65-year-old Joseph William Pugh Jr. was arraigned on Thursday on a felonious embezzlement count.

Pugh is accused of embezzling the money over a seven-year period from Heiston Supply Company.

West Virginia State Police say the investigation began after the company's president discovered $400 was missing from a business deposit on July 31.

The company's president told state police that Pugh took over the deposits in 2008.

It wasn't immediately clear whether Pugh had retained an attorney to comment on the charges.
