Police: 2 killed on I-81 after driver suffers medical emergency, crosses into oncoming traffic

CHAMBERSBURG, Pennsylvania — Authorities say a man suffered a medical emergency while driving in south-central Pennsylvania, causing an accident that killed him and a young passenger.

State police say 44-year-old Calvin Edmonds and an unidentified 12-year-old boy died Wednesday on Interstate 81 near Chambersburg.

Police say after Edmonds fell unconscious, the car left the northbound lanes and crossed over the grassy median into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer.

A 42-year-old woman and an 11-month-old baby also traveling with Edmonds were hurt. The truck driver was not injured.

Authorities say Edmonds was from Roanoke, Virginia.
