Investigators probe discovery of human remains in rural upstate New York hamlet

MOUNTAINDALE, New York — Police are investigating the discovery of human remains found in upstate New York.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports (http://bit.ly/1Mo4rhT ) the remains were found over the weekend in the rural Sullivan County hamlet of Mountaindale, 80 miles northwest of New York City. Town of Fallsburg Police Chief Simmie Williams says the department can't release more information for fear of impeding the investigation.

An autopsy was conducted on Monday, but the results haven't been released.
