OYSTER BAY, New York — Police on Long Island say two men have been rescued after their catamaran overturned in high winds.
Nassau County police got a distress call from the men at 4:15 p.m. Sunday. Officers from the marine bureau were able to locate the overturned vessel just off Moses Point in Oyster Bay Harbor.
The officers pulled the two men from the water. Police say both were wearing proper flotation devices and suits.
The water rescue happened one day after a tugboat sank off Fire Island. The tugboat's captain died while three crew members were rescued by the Coast Guard.
