BOSTON — A company that was awarded a medical marijuana dispensary license in Lowell and is vying for licenses in Boston and Greenfield appears to have overstated the scope of its operations at a counseling and research program for HIV and AIDS patients at dispensaries it owns in other cities.
The Boston Globe (http://bit.ly/1r7bWNx ) reports that Patriot Care Corp. said in its application for a Massachusetts license that the AIDS program was "in place" in other cities but company officials provided conflicting accounts this week about whether the program is indeed operating.
Patriot Care spokesman Dennis Kunian says there was no misleading. He at first said the program is not operating in Washington D.C. yet because there are not enough patients, but the company later said a pilot program is running.
