MOORE, Oklahoma — Students from two elementary schools destroyed by a tornado in 2013 have started the new school year at newly built schools.

An EF5 tornado destroyed Briarwood Elementary School and Plaza Towers Elementary School on May 20, 2013. Seven students were killed at Plaza Elementary.

The more than 1,000 students at both schools were shuffled to other schools during the 2013-2014 school year while the new schools were being built.

A memorial dedicated to the seven students who were killed is expected to be completed during the fall at Plaza Towers.
