BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — A 27-year-old woman has avoided a trial, and potential death sentence, by pleading guilty to a lesser charge in the 2014 slaying of a Birmingham beauty shop owner.

Al.com (http://bit.ly/1QntK3r ) reports Bianca Holman pleaded guilty last week to felony murder and was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the shooting death of 63-year-old Cha Ya Anders.

Holman had been charged with capital murder and had been set to go on trial in March in Jefferson County Circuit Court.

Holman's attorney, Emory Anthony, says the sentence also covers Holman's plea to a separate robbery that occurred before Anders' death.

Anders' body was found inside the beauty supply store she owned on April 5, 2014. Police said they believed that Anders had been killing during a robbery the previous night.
