FINDLAY, Ohio — A former congressman from Ohio is giving $500,000 to the University of Findlay for construction of a new building on campus.

The university says the donation from former U.S. Rep. Mike Oxley and his wife will go toward a new $15 million student life center and business college building.

Oxley left Congress in 2006 after spending 25 years representing northwestern Ohio.

The Republican from Findlay rose to become chairman of the U.S. House Financial Services Committee during his time in Washington.

Oxley is a member of the University of Findlay's board of trustees

He is currently counsel in the Washington, D.C. office of law firm Baker Hostetler and serves as senior adviser to the board of Nasdaq OMX Group Inc.
