MEMPHIS, Tennessee — A pilot and two hospital workers killed in a medical helicopter crash in 2013 are being honored at a ceremony this week.

Helicopter pilot Charles D. Smith, pediatric nurse Carrie Barlow and pediatric respiratory therapist Denise Adams are scheduled to receive Tennessee's "Three Stars Award" on Thursday at the Shelby County Office of Preparedness command center.

They were killed Oct. 22, 2013. The Hospital Wing helicopter crashed and burned in Fayette County while on the way to pick up an ailing child in Bolivar.

Adams and Barlow worked for Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis. Hospital Wing aircraft transport patients to area hospitals.

The National Transportation Safety Board has not released its report on the cause of the crash.
