VINTON, Iowa — Crews used a crane to remove a clock from atop the historic Benton County Courthouse in Vinton.

KCRG-TV reports ( ) workers pulled out pieces of the clock Wednesday morning. The items will be taken to Mooresville, Indiana, where the clock will be restored.

The clock hasn't worked for years, with its hands frozen at just before 12 since sometime in 2008.

The restoration is being funded through a state grant and local fundraising.

Organizers of the restoration say the clock should be back in place around Thanksgiving. Once its back, bells also will chime to mark the hours.
