ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico — A Navajo Nation man has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for a drunken-driving accident that left a pedestrian dead.

Almundo Cruz Singer faces up to 8 years in federal prison when he's sentenced. The 27-year-old from Tseyatoh (SAY-ah-toe), New Mexico, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Albuquerque on Friday.

Court records show Singer was arrested after he hit a man crossing a highway with his vehicle on Dec. 9 in Church Rock. Singer didn't stop and was found in Gallup.

Singer has been in custody since his arrest.
