COLUMBIA, South Carolina — South Carolina military veterans are rallying at the Statehouse in Columbia and hearing from Medal of Honor recipient Maj. Gen. James Livingston.
The Veterans Advocacy Council is sponsoring Wednesday's event, which is slated to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the north end of the Statehouse steps.
The rally is being held to call lawmakers' attention to legislation that could affect veterans' health and welfare in the state.
Livingston is a Georgia native and retired Marine Corps two-star general. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for gallantry in action during a lengthy 1968 engagement during in the Vietnam conflict in which he was wounded three times.
Other Vietnam veterans at the rally also will be recognized.
