PHOENIX — A former state juvenile corrections officer has pleaded not guilty to charges accusing him of sexual misconduct with an inmate.

A Maricopa County Superior Court spokeswoman says 33-year-old Jeremy Hazen pleaded not guilty Monday.

Hazen faces one count of unlawful sexual conduct by a corrections employee and three counts of assault.

An inmate at the state Department of Juvenile Corrections' Adobe Mountain School in Phoenix had accused Hazen of sexual misconduct.

The department says Hazen had worked for the department since 2013 but is no longer employed by the state.
