Iowa sex offender described as 'serial child molester' sentenced to life in prison

DAVENPORT, Iowa — A registered sex offender described by prosecutors as a "serial child molester" has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing Davenport boys and photographing the abuse.

The Quad-City Times reports (http://bit.ly/1Qy8biV ) that 49-year-old James E. Faler showed no emotion as a federal judge ordered a life sentence plus 50 years without the possibility of parole.

Faler, a registered Iowa sex offender since 1991, was arrested in May 2013 in Louisville, Kentucky, for failing to notify authorities that he had moved there. After his arrest, authorities found a thumb drive in his backpack with pornographic images of children. Some boys in the photos were depicted engaging in sexual activity with Faler at his former home in Davenport.
