JACKSONVILLE, Florida — Two men have been charged in what police are calling a murder-for-show involving a 62-year-old man who was waiting to go to work at a Jacksonville bus stop.
Police said Wednesday that Arsenio James, 26, and Timothy Webster, 18, approached Gary Bell at bus stop last October and asked if he had ever seen anyone killed.
Lt. Steve Gallaher said the men asked to use his cell phone when James shot Bell in the head. A passing motorist found his body. Gallaher called it an evil and heinous attack.
Friends described Bell as a quiet, dependable grandfather who started taking the bus to work after his vehicle broke down.
The Florida Times-Union (http://tinyurl.com/o635oap) reports a jailhouse informant helped crack the case.
Webster was picked up on an unrelated auto theft warrant earlier this year. James was also already jailed when the charges were filed.
