SACRAMENTO, California — A parachute malfunction may have led to the death of a skydiver at a Davis airport.

The Sacramento Bee reports (http://bit.ly/1Vrt3YX) the unidentified man was in a group of more than a dozen people participating in a Sunday morning jump. SkyDance SkyDiving president Ray Ferrell says it's unclear exactly what led to the skydiver's death, but it appears the man's main chute malfunctioned.

A trained emergency medical technician and a nurse who were in the group of skydivers assisted the man until volunteer firefighters and the Yolo County Sheriff's Department responded.

Sunday marks the third skydiving death since 2009 at a location that runs about 30,000 jumps each year.
