Viacom posts fourth-quarter profit of $884 million


NEW YORK — Viacom Inc. (VIA) on Thursday reported fiscal fourth-quarter net income of $884 million.

The New York-based company said it had net income of $2.21 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $1.54 per share.

The owner of Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central and Paramount Pictures posted revenue of $3.79 billion in the period.

For the year, the company reported profit of $1.92 billion, or $4.73 per share. Revenue was reported as $13.27 billion.

Viacom shares have decreased 33 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 28 percent in the last 12 months.
