Body of Georgia man who jumped off a boat in South Carolina found

DAUFUSKIE ISLAND, South Carolina — The body of a Georgia man who jumped off a boat near Daufuskie Island has been found by other boaters.

South Carolina Natural Resources Lt. Michael Paul Thomas told local media that boaters reported shortly before 2:30 p.m. Monday that they had found the body of a man near the south end of the island.

Thomas says the victim was 46-year-old Anthony Blaine Allen of Savannah, Georgia.

Thomas said Allen had jumped from a boat late Saturday afternoon and could not be found when the boat turned to pick him up.

The state agency was joined by Beaufort County sheriff's deputies and the Coast Guard in the search.

Thomas says an autopsy is planned at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston..
