SEATTLE — A man in his 80s died overnight after suffering burns to 95 percent of his body when he was caught in an apartment fire in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood.
Seattle fire spokesman Kyle Moore says the man died at Harborview Medical Center. Another man in his 40s is being treated for third-degree burns to his hands. Moore says the man is in serious condition but his injuries are not life-threatening. KIRO reports (http://bit.ly/1GwYwCv) a neighbor had rescued the man in his 80s.
Moore says the structure was not a typical apartment setting. He says it had separate sleeping areas that would linked by a central area. He says the fire started in that common area, but they don't know how it started.
The blaze in the three-story building caused $200,000 damage to the structure and about $50,000 worth of damage to the contents. More than 90 firefighters fought the fire.
