Former Utah teacher who pleaded guilty to sex with students asks judge not to give prison time

FARMINGTON, Utah — A former Utah English teacher who has pleaded guilty to having sexual relations with three male students aged 16 and 17 has asked the judge not to send her to prison, arguing that she isn't a threat.

The Standard Examiner reports (http://bit.ly/1FTAAKj ) that 35-year-old Brianne Altice sent a handwritten letter to Judge Thomas Kay on May 21 in which she says that she is "harmless."

In the letter, Altice writes that that she understands that she will be expected to pay some sort of retribution for the crime, but pleads with Kay to give her further jail time rather than prison if he decides to incarcerate her.

She also wrote that she guarantees that she will not repeat the crime.

Altice's sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 9.
