YAKIMA, Washington — The Yakima County sheriff's office says a Moses Lake man has been arrested in the 2013 killing of a middle school art teacher.

Detective Mike Russell said in a statement Thursday that the 27-year-old was booked into Yakima County Jail for investigation of murder. The suspect was not identified.

Desiree Sunford was found shot to death in her home east of Yakima on April 7, 2013. The 30-year-old was in her second year as an art teacher at Wapato Middle School.

Sheriff's detectives received recent information on the case and worked with other law enforcement agencies to serve several search warrants in and around Moses Lake on Thursday. They say they found additional evidence linking the man to Sunford's murder.
