SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota — A South Dakota man and his daughter from California have been found guilty of false imprisonment after locking the woman's husband in a grain bin in Iowa.

The Argus Leader reports (http://argusne.ws/1uf7gnr ) Craig Olson of Canton, South Dakota, and Oriana Groppetti of Visalia, California, face up to a year in jail. An Iowa jury returned the misdemeanor conviction Monday after three hours of deliberation. The jury acquitted them of higher charges including felony kidnapping.

Olson and his daughter locked Derek Groppetti, of Visalia, in an empty grain bin on July 22 following a domestic dispute. He escaped but was later taken to another abandoned farm, where he fled on foot and called for help.

Derek Groppetti testified that he never felt intimidated and only called 911 to get a ride to an airport.
