NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans police say firefighters who doused a burning car found an unidentified woman's body in the trunk.

Officer Garry Flot says in a news release that a caller reported the car fire to police about 7 a.m. Sunday in eastern New Orleans, at the intersection of Lake Forest and Michoud boulevards.

Flot says firefighters put out the fire, then found the body. He says the coroner will release her name after notifying relatives.

Flot says the coroner has classified the death as murder, and an autopsy will determine the exact cause.
