OMAHA, Nebraska — Republican Pete Ricketts has won support from law enforcement groups in the Nebraska governor's race.

Ricketts was endorsed Wednesday by the Nebraska State Troopers Association and the State Law Enforcement Bargaining Council.

Brian Petersen, the president of both groups, announced the group's choice with Ricketts in Omaha. The State Law Enforcement Bargaining Council represents State Patrol troopers and Nebraska Game and Parks conservation officers.

Ricketts says he has committed to keeping open lines of communication with the groups and ensuring that they play a role in state policy discussions. He also pledged to help protect their collective bargaining rights, pension plans and technology and equipment needs.

Ricketts is running against Democrat Chuck Hassebrook to replace Republican Gov. Dave Heineman.
