MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina — Authorities say a suspect who has refused to tell them who he is fired shots at police officers who chased him on to a dead-end street in Myrtle Beach.

Police told local media outlets that the officers were investigating a shooting and carjacking involving a purple Mercedes-Benz around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday when they spotted a similar-looking car at a gas station.

Investigators say the Mercedes-Benz sped off and officers chased the car to a dead-end street. Authorities say the driver tried to run over the officers and at least two of them fired at the suspect. No one was injured.

Police say the suspect ran from the car and was arrested shortly after.

Investigators say he has refused to tell them his name and they're trying to identify him.
